Buy Delta Mqm Miles

Certain tickets, including but not limited to bulk, consolidator, cruise, vacation packages, inclusive tour and other tickets where the fare is not disclosed, will also count toward MQDs excluding bookings made through priceline.com or hotwire.com where the carrier is not disclosed prior to purchase. A portion of the airfare for some Delta Vacations packages will earn MQDs based on fare class and distance flown. Award, free, barter, pass travel and other tickets not eligible for mileage accrual will not earn MQDs. Pay with Miles tickets eligible for mileage accrual will earn MQDs for the portion of the base fare and carrier-imposed surcharges remaining and paid in currency after miles are applied to the ticket total.

When prompted, enter the number of miles you would like to purchase for your SkyMiles account. Buy miles may only be received into SkyMiles accounts that have been established for at least 10 days and have earned at least one mile since enrolling in the SkyMiles program. And this multiplier is based on the distance you actually fly, and not the price you paid for your ticket. And because of that, I earned 4,940 MQDs instead of the 992 I would have earned on a Delta flight. That's enough to meet the Silver medallion status MQD requirement. This was calculated by taking 40% of the total distance flown which was 12,350 miles.

I am a current Diamond Medallion and have a mileage run booked and ticketed directly with Air France Dec 9-12 to make DM again for 2023. I bought a sale fare and should get about 2.8 MQDs per $1 spend on the ticket. Do you know how long it will take to receive the MQD credit in my Skymiles account?

No. You would still need to meet the Medallion Qualifying Miles (MQM) requirement. That is basically a measure of how many miles you fly with Delta. You need 125,000 of those a year in addition to the MQD spending waiver of $250k.

If you are short the Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) you need to achieve the Medallion Elite status you desire, Delta will sell you a minimum 2,500 miles and a maximum 10,000 MQMs until January 31, 2016.

The article is outdated in places. As part of award tickets earning MQD/MQM/MQD, Pay With Miles tickets also started earning MQD at the 1 per 100 miles rate. Elite credit wise, there's no difference between redeeming 20k miles or $100 plus 10k miles.

The Miles+Cash option open to all members (effectively buying the miles between the normal award price and the mile portion of the Miles + Cash) likewise earns the same elite credit, though this is probably the last resort redemption option.

I also love the flexibility of being able to use my miles to pay for a portion of the fare, rather than having to redeem for an award ticket. This gives me more options when it comes to booking flights, especially when cash prices are high.

Sure this is correct as of today (maybe was correct in the past)? As of last year, award tickets DO earn MQM/MQS/MQDs, while NOT earning redeemable miles. And now with the 15% discount you get for redeemable miles with these same "pay with mile" cards. So why would ANYONE use the latter if you are effectively paying much more in miles while losing MQM/MQS/MQD accrual?

if you don't have a co-brand AMEX, you can still cash out DL miles at $0.01 via a dummy non-refundable booking and using miles to pay the upgrade fee at the $0.01 valuation. you can then change the dummy booking into the desired booking.

This gives me more options when it comes to booking flights, especially when cash prices are high.Overall, I'm excited to try out the Pay with Miles program on my next Delta flight and see how much I can save. Thanks again for the helpful guide!

However, to those of you that were unfortunate to fall for it that didn't have Silver Status, Delta happily took up to $995 of your money for nothing. As I found out as recently as two minutes ago, Delta happily has been taking people's money who didn't have Silver status. I myself had 1000 miles from last year - and didn't expect those to roll over - but bought 10,000 to start off 2013, in which I expected to do a fair amount of Delta travelling, including a round-trip to Italy for a much belated honeymoon. Nope. Delta's supervisors gladly told me - with some umbrage that I'd suggest otherwise, that the language on the site was clear (screenshot to the right included) - that these would not count unless you were over 25,000 miles.
